ACT Day!

Why should you try your best on the ACT?
It is being given to you for free. It costs everyone else who they don't give it to for free $56.50.

Why is the ACT important?
Colleges can get your scores. They use these to help decide whether or not to admit you. Many colleges use these scores as a "weed out" method meaning if you have low test scores, they won't look at any of your other information. They will automatically decide they don't want you. They also use them to decide between admitting two students.

What should you do?
  • Show up on time (8 am) if you're late, they can't let you take the test because it's nationally regulated and letting you start late would be a violation that would cause everyone else taking the test at JCHS to have their scores nullified.
  • Eat breakfast before the test and bring snacks like granola bars, fruit and sandwiches.
  • Bring 2-3 pencils with erasers. Believe in yourself!

If I don't score well, can I take it again?
Yes, you can but you would have to pay the full registration fee.

Biomrediation of Oil Spills Virtual Lab
  • In order to qualify to complete the virtual lab, all solve crumple toss problems must be completed successfully.
    • This is because this lab will extend those concepts and students need a solid grasp on the concepts prior to using them in a real life scenario.
  • Students may chose to complete this after school if they were not ready to complete this activity.
  • This will be a lab grade and will only improve student grade overall. Not completing this will not count against students.
Chem Jam - after school

All solve crumple toss problems must be stamped before tomorrow to receive credit. You will only turn in your score card. No problems will be graded tomorrow.

Use this conversion to help you determine the amount of lemon juice you need that is equivalent to 0.3 g of citric acid. This is because citric acid is more concentrated than lemon juice.
The mass of 1 ounce of lemon juice is 26.23 g. 1.5 g of powdered citric acid is equivalent to 1 ounce of lemon juice.
